My favorite part so far in this journey is traveling out to the island of Cheung Chau. It was a pleasant surprise that only a 30 minute fast boat or 1 hr slow ferry ride gets you to this quiet island. A fishing island at heart this is a quiet place that has trails paved all over to see the best sites. Many locals use these paths for their daily walks but there are also a decent amount of tourists wandering their way about. It was interesting to find that I never saw a car driving around versus Hong Kong which is busy and very noisy with traffic. On Cheung Chau everyone gets around on bicycles and if you really do need a motorized vehicle to move dirt, rock, or anything else heavy there are little utility trikes that buzz around, but very few of them.
Rob and I wandered our way around, found a beach (loved the feeling of sand between my toes after walking on pavement for several days!), cliff, and several other lookout points. We attempted a little bit of rock climbing both with only a 50% success rate of making it to the top. After a long day of walking around we hopped the ferry back, changed, and then went out for some local food.
