Its been a slow past two days in Bangkok! The differences between the two cities is quite interesting though. Hong Kong island is truly confined to its space Bangkok has had the chance to expand outward as the city grows. Even with everything spread out there is so much the amount of congestion of people whether it be on the streets or piling into the trains.
The shopping in Bangkok is a paradise for anyone looking for the smallest trinkets to the top of the line designer clothing. You can shop in the streets and bargain hard for what you pay for things like knock-off watches, pirated movies, to even a few iPads here and there. If you are looking for straight forward shopping you can hit one of the many shopping centers that sometimes have complete floors dedicated to phone accessories. I found myself a new iPhone case there!
The hardest thing to get used to is the local currency, Thai Baht. The exchange rate is $1.00 USD = $0.0326 Baht. It feels like monopoly money! I will be carrying $5,000.00 Baht which is only about $162.00 USD. I still keep catching myself freaking out for a second when I buy an espresso and they say “160.00 please”
So far we’ve just been hitting the shopping, getting foot massages, and enjoying lots of good food so there hasn’t been many huge photographic events to capture. The site seeing happens in the next two days!
Wow! Let’s go shopping!
